As you probably know this room is filled with elementary school tools such as notebook, textbook, scissors, colored pencils, rulers, tape, glue, etc. Walking in the door you see three rows of paired up desks centered in the middle of the room and then a small work area desk up front toward the far corner. Of course there's a white board lining the front wall, along with a bulletin board on each side. Over top of that there's a cursive alphabet stuck to the wall for reference for the students. Along the side walls are cabinets, a few computers, and some announcement boards. At the back far corner is the teachers desk filled with nick-nacs and a few piles of papers ready to be graded. The back wall holds another white board and some math problems for the day, and a personal share and tell board. Around the room there are many colors and lots of things going on.
The teacher and the students obviously would act differently in this culture. The teacher is in charge and the adult in the room in which the students should look up to. The teacher seems to be very organized and on top of things. She has activities planned for the students at every minute of the day because at this age you can't let them go free without supervision. The teacher has duties for each student to do everyday, which teaches them how to be responsible and get things done efficiently. The way that the classroom is set up really shows that there was a thought out plan and that everything really was strategically placed . Every activity has a reason or a learning tool hidden within it but the classroom environmental also seems like a fun place to learn. Students at this age can't sit for very long so getting out of their seats is key and while observing in the classroom there was definitely changes of scenery. The students seem to have their group of friends within the classroom but also learn to get along with everyone. Each desks clutter or organization shows the that students personality. Some kids don't care if they can't find anything in their desk but some do. Teacher to student confrontation seems to be like they have equal responsibility in the fact that the teacher will respect you and your thoughts if you respect theirs. The teacher doesn't talk to them like they're little kids, she doesn't look down on them; she treats them like adults in the sense that they know their responsibilities and what they need to be doing and if that is accomplished then they don't need to be treated like a kid.
